10 Extraordinary carvings at Stone Mountain
The Fortress of Brest is the second largest war memorial in the Soviet Union.Located in the city of Brest, Belarus. This statue is a tribute to "courage" to survive the famous German attack against the Soviet Union during the first days of World War II. Its size and shape are very impressive showing toughness.
2. Mount Rushmore National Memorial
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a granite sculpture carved into becoming a face on Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota, USA. Gutzon Borglum carved by and then by his son Lincoln Borglum, Mount Rushmore 60-foot-tall (18 m) in the form of a statue of former president of the United States the head of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The entire memorial covers 1,278.45 acres (5.17 km2) and 5725 feet (1745 m) above sea level.
3. The Confederate Memorial Carving
Stone Mountain Park has the largest high relief sculpture in the world, the Confederate Memorial Carving. Carving is to honor three Confederate heroes of the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and Gen. Robert E. Lee and Thomas J."Stonewall" Jackson. The entire carved surface of 3 hectares, larger than a football field. Carved out of 3 people is 400 feet above the ground, area of 90 to 190 feet, and a hidden 42 feet into the mountain. Deepest point of the carving is located in Lee's elbow, which is 12 feet to the surface of the mountain.

A giant statue of The Bust of Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, was built in Buca, a suburb of the Aegean port city of Izmir, western Turkey.
Small Note: A cow was reported to have sent to another village by the owner after destroying a statue of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, at the park elementary school in eastern province of Malatya.
5. The Matreiya Buddha
Located in the hills Jishi 35 kilometers (22 miles) southwest of the village Yongjing, Gansu Province. Bingling Thousand Buddha Caves is the cultural richness of the Silk Road. The largest of the sculptures, The Matreiya Buddha, stands almost as tall as 100 feet (27 meters).
6. Petra
Petra is a city of historic and archaeological in Jordan who has a piece of stone architecture. Founded around the 6th century BC as the capital of the Nabataeans.It is a symbol of Jordan as well as a tourist attraction the most visited, chosen by the BBC as one of "40 places to see before you die". This site was featured in movies like Indiana Jones and Transformers.
7. Leshan Giant Buddha
Leshan Giant Buddha is a statue of Maitreya who was in a sitting position. In December 1996, the location of the Buddha entered by the UNESCO World Heritage site list. Beginning in 713 in the Tang Dynasty, and completed in 803, the working of this statue requires more than 90 years to complete. At the time of initial construction, it is the tallest statue in the world. During this year, thousands of workers have been issued abilities and hopes on this project. As the biggest carved stone Buddha, Leshan Giant Buddha is featured in poetry, song and story.
8. Crazy Horse Memorial
Located in South Dakota, a large carving of the Oglala Lakota warrior, with his horse was started by Korczak Ziolkowski in 1948 in the Black Hills. 9. Bamiyan Buddhas
Bamiyan Buddha statues carved into a cliff about 500 AD, at an altitude of 2,500 meters (8,202 feet). 10. Church of St George
Church of St George which is carved entirely out of one block of granite with a roof above ground in the small town of Lalibela in Ethiopia and is one of 11 churches made of carved stone. Churches of Lalibela is not built, they dug. Each church was created by first carving a trench width on all four sides of the rock, then painstakingly carved out interior. The biggest church is 40 meters, and the labor involved to complete the task as it is only by using a hammer and chisel.
